Can anyone share their personal experience with kiting in the Florida Keys in December? Islamorada, Marathon and Key West come up. How’s the wind there that time of year? |

I live in Jacksonville Beach and originally from Tampa, December-March is our windiest months of the year for Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico kiting. I've kited Boca Raton in December, good wind, 16-25mph. I haven't been as far south as the Keys but winter kiting in Florida tends to be pretty solid. The smallest kite you'll need is probably a 8/9m IMO. We don't get the BIG winds like the PNW unless we have hurricanes or tropical storms rolling through.
Good luck mate |

Thanks! That's really helpful. Am I likely to want my big kite (15m) at all? |

Yes, you'll be wanting your 15m meter when you see small white caps and you didn't bring it on your trip--Murphy's law. . .
Pack it all and bring it with you. |

wind is good in December - certainly bring the big kites or foil and you will score
cold fronts roll thru and can go off - keep an eye on the current around the bridges if the wind is marginal or your swim might be for a while...
fish/dive when its calm
