Thu Jan 26, 17 8:19 pm Torn ACL. To Sell or Not to Sell |
|

So I tore my damn ACL and will be out for at least 6 months -- probably more like 9. Was thinking about selling the quiver until I'm back in action. Mostly barely used Wave SSTs. Thoughts? _________________ Pfft... You call that a gust? |

How often do you normally buy new kites? If they are in like-new condition they'll still be that way in 6 months and I doubt there will be some great advance in kite technology in that time. _________________ Curious about Ocean Rodeo gear? I would wait 6 months and see what happens before you sell. January is not a great time to sell used gear (at least locally). If in 5-6 months you are still recovering and it's looking like you won't be back in action for the rest of the season then go ahead and sell. You will probably get better prices then as well (at least if you sell before the 2018 Slingy gear comes out). |

That's some good advice, thanks.
I have 3 Waves, an old RPM and an old Rally. The 3 waves are like new. Maybe I'll sell the old ones for cheap and start saving up to replace them with new kit after rehab.
For future reference, kiting >>>> hockey. _________________ Pfft... You call that a gust? |

Just hang the bagged kites in a cool dry location, they'll be waiting ready to go. I hang mine in the garage to ensure mice don't get into them. _________________ CGKA Member |

You should sell everything, down to your harness and then after a full recovery, buy all new! You deserve it! |

If I may suggest, stationary bike obsessively (starting with the seat high, and lowering as you go). I was back to pole dancing at around 4-5 months. Of course, I was a lot younger then. Swelling came and went for probably a year. Good luck with the recovery. |
