Tue Dec 10, 13 4:45 pm 2011 vs. 2012 Rally |

Anyone who rode both years have a report on the 2011 and 2012 Rallys? Similarities? Differences? I heard the 2013s were the big change, but wasn't sure. Any truth to that?
Thanks. |

All I can tell you is that the 2012 14 kicks ass , faster than the 2013 for light wind kite and I love my 2013 7 and 2013 10. 7 was fun into the mid 40's and the 10 has worked great so far from 25-35knots. I weigh about 220 on the water!! Get some:-)!! _________________ Take a breath; inhale |

Thanks Sella. I saw those and other posts about Rallys when I did a search as well, but didn't see an answer to my specific question. Still open to feedback about 2011 versus 2012. |

Duck, you should be good to go with either year as it's not easy to find any beta on major design differences. Supposedly the 2012 was improved over the 2011 at reducing wingtip flutter when under load but most of the Rally comparisons do seem to divide into two generations. (11/12) vs (13/14). Older turn faster, newer run bigger in size. Wow, imagine that? If you weigh 200 pounds + the flutter could be an issue on the older versions. They also prefer to be pumped up very very tight. I have 2013's and weigh 200 pounds and the kite is bomber proof rock solid under heavy load. Definite boost machine with great low end grunt and very easy to fly, like an auto-pilot feel, but it's not giving me the feedback that I've become accustomed too with my RPM's. I'm still partial to the snap and quick power response of the RPM's so my impression of the Rally is mixed and only worth about 2 cents as I do need more time with the kite. I would definitely like to fly a 2011 lit up to compare the turning speed, flutter, and down the line float against my 2013 as that first year seems to be the faster wild child based on all those Rally threads. Good luck in your search. |
