Tue Aug 14, 12 9:09 am CGKA - Please do not kite near the Event Site beach |

Just a heads up to help keep our presence at the Event Site a positive one.
There have been some concerned comments made to the Port regarding how couple of kiteboarders have been kiting way too close to the beach, far inside the designated white marker buoys on busy days when swimmers and sailors are out there. These are not your average local kiter, but people who are trying to do a little 'look how good I am' riding in front of the spectators.
The White Marker buoys are our indicator for where not to be flying a kite and for windsurfers to be cautious of shallow water that their fins cannot clear.
Because of the fluctuating low water the windsurfers are forced to walk their gear a distance out from the Event Site to start sailing.
The shallow water also is a great temptation for swimmers/waders to also move further out away from the beach without thought for how they are encroaching on windsport related activities.
Yes, we understand that there is a concern about how the beach users arer congesting our accessway to and from the Sandbar from the Event Site.
There are plans in place for next year, but for right now, there is not a great solution.
**If you have not noticed, the Port Waterfront Coordinator did make a command judgment decision and expanded the PUMP and DRY area for kiteboarders. This is very much appreciated and is a great step forward for accomodating all users and keeping life safe and more user friendly for us.
Thank you
